Effects of Tooth Surface Crack Propagation on Meshing Stiffness and Vibration Characteristic of Spur Gear System

Tooth surface cracks are considered as the early stage of development tooth spalling failure. Understanding excitation mechanism has a great significance in diagnosis faults. However, there few studies on dynamic modelling cracks, and influence cracking characteristics gear system is also not yet clear during its propagation process. Thus, an analytical calculation model meshing stiffness with crack developed. Then, spur six degrees freedom (DOF) established based proposed model. The effects investigated. results show that side frequencies transmission error (DTE) more sensitive than those acceleration responses propagation, which favorable to fault diagnosis. Compared traditional model, can accurately characterize defect.
